Description

$g_enable_relationship Enable support for bug relationships where a bug can be "related to", "parent of", "child of", or "duplicate of" another. See relationship_api.php for more details. The default is ON.

'parent of' / 'child of is', IMO, poor terminology for the relationship.
The parent bug actually depends on the child (e.g. all children should be in state resolved/closed before the parent can be resolved/closed).

  I've changed our installation to describe it as 'depends on' 'dependant of'.

I use "depends on" and "prereq of" myself.

I really think sub-issues and dependent issues are two separate things that BOTH should be supported by mantis, see http://bugs.mantisbt.org/view.php?id=4639
